Made up of five mind blowing talents, La Meme Gang, over the period have been known by many to be a music group here in Ghana.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on DaybreakHitz, the group which is made up of the likes of Darkovibes, Kiddblack, Nxwrth, RJZ, and $pacely denounced being a group.
In spite of their collaborative works and albums in the name of ‘La Meme Gang’, group members explained why they all have individual works and have no fear of losing each other.
Over the years, Ghanaians have seen the rise and break up groups such as VIP (Promzy left), Buk Bak, Praye, Wutah and many others.
Well, La Meme Gang argues that they are not bound to suffer the same fate because they are not a group, rather they do collective works hence they come together to record when the need arises and can go their separate ways also.
“We are not a group, first and foremost, we are like a collective body. We are like the power rangers so we come together when it is very necessary to mix things up. So like everybody is his own artist,” Darkovibes told Andy Dosty.
Asked whether they were going to reject the nomination from various award schemes if they are nominated as a group – already 3 Music Awards has nominated them for the best group of the year award – they answered;
“That is an ward and its how the media or the public takes it or accept the collective. That is how they see it, but for us, we want you to understand so you don’t stress that we’ve broken up when you see some of us at places all by ourselves. Looking at the nominations, we will just accept it like that.”
