Three times VGMA Highlife Artiste of the year, Kuami Eugene has finally reacted to claims by some Ghanaians that he didn’t deserve the overall Artiste of The Year Award at the just ended VGMA.

On Sunday, August 30, 2020, Kuami Eugene was crowned the overall artiste of the year after Ebony Reign’s two years of holding onto the title.

However, majority of Ghanaians on social media were left disappointed as their favorites, Kofi Kinaata, Sarkodie, Medikal, and Diana Hamilton, failed to claim the bragging rights.

It is on the back of this conversation that Kuami Eugene has named artistes he would have loved to win the slot if he had not won it.

In an interview with AJ Sarpong on Citi FM’s ‘Brunch in the Citi’, the ‘Kontomire’ musician said he had worked hard to earn the award.

In the course of the interview, Eugene was asked who he would have loved to win if he lost, he said,

“I was rooting for Kinaata to win the Artiste of the Year besides me. I was also rooting for Medikal as well. Because Kofi Kinaata has really worked and Medikal also released back-to-back hit songs for the year. He has done the job, truth be told.”

Many think Eugene’s statement confirms the fact that his inner intuition attests to the fact that he didn’t deserve that award.
