Katsina: Custom officers impound 13 smuggled vehicles and 314 rice bags

Between July 8 and August 3, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has impounded 13 vehicles, 314 bags of imported rice and other products worth more than N60 million in Katsina State.

Malam Dalha Wada, the Acting Controller of Customs for the Katsina State Area Command, made the announcement on Tuesday in Kaduna while updating journalists on the command’s accomplishments.

According to Wada, the command apprehended a Lexus Saloon 2011 model with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N3.6 million and a Toyota Corolla 2015 model with a DPV of more than N7 million during the time under consideration.

Other vehicles seized include a Mercedes 180 from 1998 valued at N1.8 million, a Mercedes C230 from 2006 with a DPV of more than N2.3 million, and two Peugeot 504s valued at N135,000 each.

Whiles speaking to newsmen, he said;

We also seized a Peugeot J5 bus valued at more than N1.4 million, another same J5 bus of over N1.6 million, Ford van F150 1996 model worth over N2 million and Peugeot J5 Iveco with DPV of N2.1 million.

The command also seized a Dab truck tipper worth N8.1 million, Toyota Rav 4 of over N4.3, and Toyota Highlander valued at over N7.1 million

The entire worth of the 13 vehicles seized, according to Wada, is more than N42.1 million.

Wada further stated that, the command also seized 314 50kg bags of parboiled foreign rice worth over N7.5 million, 227 25 litre jerrycans of vegetable oil with a DPV of N5.4 million, and 178 cartons of imported spaghetti costing N961,000.
