New Producer Price Of Cocoa Is To Influence Farmers To Vote For The NPP – John Mahama laments

Former president of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama has bitterly compalined that the recent increment in the producer price of cocoa by the government is to indirectly buy votes ahead of the impending general elections.

Sharing his sentiments on the unexpected increase in tye producer cocoa prices, the NDC flagbearer argued that  Nana Addo purposely initiated this move to influence the outcome of the 2020 national polls.

Durig a grand-durbar in the Juaboso constituency of the Western North Region, Mr Mahama pointed out that the increment in cocoa price is to cover up the failures of the government in the cocoa sector and manipulate the voting decision of cocoa farmers.

So the increment is because the election is near and the government wants to use it to influence the vote of farmers”, he said.

John Mahama also disclosed that when he assumes power after this year’s elections, he and the NDC government will re-introduce the yearly increment of producer price of cocoa to enable cocoa farmers to benefit from their toil, adding that the bonuses on producer price of cocoa will be restored under the next NDC government.

Pressing on, John  Mahama further revealed that when given the mandate in the December 7, 2020 elections, the next NDC administration will establish a pension scheme for cocoa farmers to take care of them upon their retirement.

He also lamented on how Akufo Addo has neglected the cocoa roads. He also bragged that most of the cocoa road projects would have been by now if Ghanaians had not voted the NDC government out in the 2016 elections.

Mr Mahama said when elected, the next NDC government will continue the cocoa roads project for easy transportation of cocoa beans. He, therefore, urged electorates to a vote for the NDC in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Nana Awuah Bonenka II  who was present at the durbar endorsed the candidature of John Mahama, saying that, revealing that he was impressed with the massive infrastructure development delivered by the Mahama during his tenure in office as the president of the republic.

The political chief entreated electorates to massively vote for Mahama to enable him to continue with his good works and create prosperity for all Ghanaians.
