ICC Opens An Inquiry Into ‘Crimes’ Committed During #EndSARS Protests In Nigeria

The International Criminal Court (ICC) says it has opened a preliminary investigation into the “wrongdoings” carried out during the far reaching #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.

If you can recall, an ICC prosecutor had earlier said the international agency had gotten information on supposed wrongdoings submitted during the protest against police brutality and injustice levelled against Nigerian youths.

BBC has now detailed that the inquiry will “assess whether the legal criteria for opening an investigation under the Rome Statute are met”.

The ICC said it would make findings of the preliminary examination public.
