I Gave My Song To Abeiku Santana But He Refused To Play It On Radio – Grace Ashly

Ghanaian gospel artist Grace Appiah Kubi known well as Grace Ashy has recounted how she gave her first song to radio and television presenter Abeiku but he disappointed her.

According to the gospel artist, she released her first song titled “Adea Yesu” in the early 2000s when she was emerging as an artist. She disclosed she gave the song to Abeiku Santana but he never played it.

“I gave the song to Abeiku Santana, but he didn’t play it”. I was frustrated and disappointed in the presenter, but was motivated to invest some time and resources in her craft to prove such personalities wrong”, she said.

Speaking in an interview in an interview on XYZ with Agyeman Prempeh, the gospel artist shared how her music career began. She said, “I started singing in church when I moved to stay with my grandmother.”

When I came to Accra, I started a church with Rev. Michael Osei Bonsu in Adenta but started going to Gospel Light with my late husband, where I was the lead singer. Through this, I started writing music. I released my debut single, ‘Adea Yesu’ in the year 2000”.

The veteran Gospel singer however disclosed that she had nothing from the GFA after all her association with them. “His Excellency J. A. Kuffuor, then President of Ghana told the GFA board to take good care of me but they didn’t heed to it. They don’t have any excuses to treat me with disregard because they had sponsorship for their events”, Grace Ashy added.
