The battle for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ new artiste of the year 2019 hangs on the neck of the artiste who performed impressively in the year under review.
Most artistes have started blowing their own horns with some claiming they deserve that accolade because they’ve been filling fans to the brim at shows, even though that alone cannot be enough grounds to win that topmost award.
Uber Driver hitmaker, Wendy Shay has been one of the artiste putting herself there for an accolade.
Speaking on WE DEY VIBE on SVTV Africa with host DJ Nyaami, the talented singer noted that, A lot of people may think she does not deserve an award but she believes she deserves some accolades at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and will keep pushing for it.
She explained that, she has worked so hard in the year under review and that she truly deserves an accolade, she didn’t specify which category exactly but she is hopeful of winning an accolade.
“You know, I have worked so much in the year under review, so personally I think I deserve lots of awards at this year’s VGMA and I know I will win an award come what may”
She added that, even though she has not performed much outside the confines of Ghana, that does not mean she does not deserve an award.
The VGMA will officially launch its 20th edition and its nominations list this Friday March 15, 2019.
