On Thursday, November 12, 2020, the former president of Ghana who served as the first president of the fourth republic of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings gave up on life after a short illness.
We are told the president was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital in the early hours of Thursday.
After several attempts to restore him to his normal states proved futile, the longest serving president and founder of the NDC could no longer battle for his life and gave up at exactly 10am on Thursday, November 12, 2020.
A report by GHOne tv and a confirmation from Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings suggest the statesman lost his life to the deadly Covid-19.
Details on his burial and other funeral arrangements are yet to be made public, however, the president of Ghana, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo has declared 7 days of national mourning in honour of the late Jerry John Rawlings.
