“Grammy Awards can’t judge African music” – Mugeez

One-half of R2Bees music group, Rashid Mugeez, popularly known as Mugeez has reacted to the latest struggle for foreign honours within the African music industry.

It has become a core mandate within Africans to be honoured by foreign or international award schemes such as the BET and Grammy Awards.

However, Mugeez who strongly disagrees with this norm has stated that African musicians don’t need the approval of these foreign award schemes.

In a recent post sighted by Gossips24.com on the musician’s Instagram, he said there is no way the Grammys can judge music from Africa stating it was the last time he was going to make such a statement.

The post captioned, “For Where !?👽📡,” came with the inscription; “For da last time Grammy no fit judge African Music!

He further advised his colleague musicians to do their music and stay happy instead of chasing these foreign awards who do not even understand some of the African rhythms.

He added; “I go carry Grammy boss enter bimbila then Boliga .. After we go knack am small Kpanlogo! Ego Confuse .. that’s just a dot in gh .. enter another African zone .. e go conf! Oya make we de do our music de happy de go 😂👽💥✌🏿 am asleep in my sleep Kwraa 😚”

Mugeez’s post comes a few hours after BET released their list of Nominees which saw the absence of Ghanaian acts for the second time since our last nomination in 2018.
