To commemorate the new Islamic year, Hijrah 1443 AH, the Oyo State Government has declared Tuesday, August 10, 2021, as a public holiday.
This was stated in a circular signed by Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in Ibadan, the state capital, over the weekend.
Governor Seyi Makinde said;
“Enjoined all and everybody to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and sustainability of the state in particular and the country in general,” according to the circular.
The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) in Oyo praised Makinde for declaring the holiday.
Alhaji Ridwan Fasasi, the MMPN Chairman, praised Makinde for his generosity and for keeping his promise that the state would declare the Hijrah holiday in the future.
