Renowned Ghanaian blogger, Israel Boafo Bansah has detailed the stress he had to go through to buy Apple’s latest merchandise, the iPhone 11 Pro.

According to the blogger, who is now the first Ghanaian blogger to have acquired the latest iPhone 11 Pro, Ghana is indeed a village because systems don’t work.

He revealed how customs nearly slapped him with over Ghc1,200 taxes because he had bought the most expensive phone, and above all, from USA.

The CEO of Gossips24.com narrated his tiring experience in Ghana in a facebook post, he wrote; “I decided to get the iPhone 11 Pro Max after thieves made away with my two phones.

Due to the fact that the phone was not immediately available in Ghana, I decided to let a friend purchase from the USA and send me but the courier and the ridiculous customs charges alone which could have purchased me additional more phones here made me believe this is one of the worst decisions I’ve made in recent times.

After I paid $350 for Fedex expedite delivery which was scheduled to reach me on the 10th October, I got it on 16th October with no explanation.

When I thought the delay was the only thing I had to deal with, customs slapped me with nearly GHS1,200 taxes, whaaaat. This is just a common phone for personal use. So what’s the difference between transporting a phone by air in person which is totally free and by courier service like FedEx or DHL? I thought duty on phones were even scrapped or reduced years ago.

It has really become increasingly unbearable living in this country.

Shatta wale got it spot on, this country is really a total village.”
