Ghana Card Would Be Used As E-Passport From 2022-Bawumia

The vice president of the Republic of Ghana His excellency Dr. Mahamdu Bawumia has revealed that the Ghana card would be replacing the passport from 2022.

The vice president who was speaking during a conference at the Transforming of Ghana Economy Through Digitalization conference in Accra revealed that the card would serve as a passport for all Ghanaians in the diaspora to identify themselves as Ghanaians.

he further went ahead to reveal that the card would help Ghanaians living abroad as they wouldn’t need to have visas before coming back to their homeland.

“By the end of the first quarter of 2022, the Ghana Card will be recognized as an e-Passport in 179 countries.”

“When this is done, Ghanaians in the diaspora would not need a visa to return to Ghana.”
