From Kayayo to University Graduate – Sokoo Hemaa shares inspiring story

It is often said that ‘don’t despise humble beginnings in life’.

This can be said in the case of popular radio presenter and media personality Mrs. Melody Kukua Adjei widely known in the media landscape as Sokoo Hemaa.

Sokoo Hemaa has successful completed her university education with a Degree at the African University College of Communications.

Taking to social media to celebrate one of her greatest moments of her life, the loud broadcaster disclosed that she used to be a ‘porter’ or what we popularly refer to as ‘Kayayo’.

They live at the mercy of the weather on the streets hustling for survival and frankly speaking, they’re generally poor living from ‘hand to mouth’.

Despite the hardship and frustration she was faced with, Sokoo Hemaa didn’t let the circumstances stop her from reaching her goal.

She penned down lengthy thanksgiving message to God for his love and protection in a photo of herself wearing the graduation gown.

Sharing her testimony via Instagram, she wrote:

I nearly deferred, yes because it was tough! But I kept on fighting and Yes, I made it . From KAYAYO to Sokoohemaa Kukua. Through out my education I’ve never been the best but I’m always among the best after school, I think it’s a calling innit???

I’m an example to many young ladies, it doesn’t matter where you’re coming from you can achieve it. I’m here because God made a way Today I graduated successfully from AUCC, glory be to God. Thanks to all who supported me from Day 1 till today especially my husband Mr Adjei Congratulations to me”
