Free SHS: Over 100 structures completed to end Double-Track System (Photos)

The Government of Ghana is on the brink of completing its plans of ending the double-track educational system.

Reports indicate that hundreds of new school buildings have been completed and furnished as promised by President Akufo Addo in 2019.

President Akufo Addo last year revealed the government plans of addressing the infrastructure deficit in the schools after the Free SHS policy was implemented.

“We are also providing a total of one thousand, one hundred and ninety (1,190) vehicles, made up of three hundred and fifty (350) buses and eight hundred and forty (840) pickups to schools in various areas in the country,” president Akufo-Addo said at the time.

The Free SHS policy since its implementation has seen a rise in enrollment and in finding substantial solutions to it constructed over 900 new structures the augment the existing ones.

Some of the structures completed include classrooms, dining halls, assembly halls, sanitary facilities, and dormitories.

In Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS, Central region a 12-unit classroom block has been completed while another 12-unit classroom block is under construction.
