REVEALED: EXIM Bank allegedly paid Ghc2m to Shatta Wale as their Brand Ambassador (video)

The Ghana Export and Import Bank, Ghana Exim Bank has been accused of paying Ghc 2 million to dancehall musician Shatta Wale.

Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak at the Public Accounts Committee sitting today, Wednesday, September 9, 2020, sought to find out from the Deputy CEO of Ghana EXIM Bank, Kwame Adu Darkwa whether payments have been made to some members of the creative arts industry including Shatta Wale and Alexander Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo.

According to the Kumbungu MP, there are records of payments to Shatta Wale. But in a response, the Deputy CEO in charge of Finance and Administration, Kwame Adu Darkwa denied any payments to the dancehall musician. The Mp stressed that Shatta Wale and the likes do not deserve such amounts as ambassadors.

However, the deputy CEO of the bank denied claims stating that a media consultant was rather engaged to help promote made in Ghana products so the artists could be brand ambassadors to the campaign.

He also denied engaging such ambassadors directly or making payments from the accounts of Ghana Exim Bank to them.

Chairman for the Committee, James Klutse Avedzi, however, stated management of the bank will be summoned again after the committee has gathered the needed evidence to the contrary.
