Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, has indicated that, protests being held in Nigeria to end police brutality is not only for themselves, but for future generations.

It can be recalled that, over the passed two weeks, there have been series of protests both on social media and in Nigeria, with the hashtag #EndSARS to create awareness for Nigeria Authorities to disband the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police. The federal unit of the Nigeria Police, has been accused of unlawful arrests, torture and extrajudicial killings.

These protests that erupted against police violence, has evolved into broader anti-government demonstrations, leading to a deadly crackdown in the country.

On social media, the #EndSARS has been trending with most celebrities such as Rihana, Beyonce and more of African celebrities around the globe expressing their support in solidarity to their counterparts in Nigeria, and calling as well.

In that regard, Wizkid took to Twitter and tweeted that, the “EndSars” protest “ is not me/you or any individual!! This is for us and the next generation to com! Love everybody!”.
