A middle-aged man has reportedly shot his wife to death at Nkronso -Abessim in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The incident is said to have occurred on January 4, 2021.
According to the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command Sargeant Francis Gomado, Police received information that the suspect has gunned down his wife and gone into hiding.
Upon arrival, the police saw the deceased lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound at the back in a wooden housing structure.
He said a locally manufactured single barrel gun loaded with one BB” empty cartridge shell was found to have been abandoned at the scene which was retrieved for evidential purpose.
Samuel Gyekye, 35, has been arrested. The deceased had a five-year-old son with the suspect.
The body of the deceased, 42-year-old Abena Owusua, has been retrieved and deposited at the Suhum government Hospital morgue.
