“Don’t give me a reason to close down schools again” – Akufo-Addo

Following the reopening of schools in Ghana, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told teachers, students, parents and staff of the various educational institutions to comply with all the measures that have been outlined to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

The president in his address to the nation on Sunday, January 17 said in order to avoid the closure of schools again in future, all the stakeholders will have to comply with the protocols outlined to tackle the virus.

He further said said he does not intend to lockdown the country again due to the coronavirus.

However, he said, if the number of active cases keeps rising, he will have not option but to impose the restrictions on the movement of persons in parts of the country as part of measure to contain the virus.

In April last year, Mr Akufo-Addo placed restrictions in the movement of persons in Accra and Kumasi for three weeks, as part of measures to contain the virus.
