COVID 19: Governor Sanwo-Olu reveals that six people died from the virus last week

Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, announced on Monday that the city has seen six COVID-19 deaths every day for the past week.

As a result, he has urged people to sit up and duly observe all COVID-19 protocols, while businesses, event centres and religious organizations ensure compliance for all visitors.

Providing COVID-19 update in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said:

From the beginning of the outbreak in February 2020 to date, Lagos State has recorded a total of 64,032confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of this number, 56,336 have recovered in community, 2,755are currently being managed actively in community.

Over the course of managing the COVID-19 pandemic, about 5,029patients have been admitted into our various COVID-19 care centres in Lagos. We have, sadly,recorded 390fatalities in Lagos State, 30of which have taken place in this current 3rdwave of the pandemic.

Essentially, we have recorded on average 6deaths per day since last week
