Ghanaians on social media have launched a new challenge (#CoupChallenge) to mock the failed coup attack that is been reported in the media for some days now.
The minister of Information Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah yesterday evening disclosed that there were attempts to stage a coup d’etat to overthrow the current government which is the Akufo Addo led government.
The Minister in his statement revealed that the plot by the arrested persons was targeted at the Presidency and with their ultimate aim to seize and take over the affairs of the country.
He went on to say that the arrest and seizure come after fifteen (15) months of surveillance and gathering of evidence on the activities of the prime suspects and others by the country’s security agency.
He listed the weapons retrieved from the suspects including locally manufactured pistols, explosives, and some foreign-made riffles.
