Breaking: Coach CK Akonnor sacked

The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council has decided to relieve Black Stars Coach – Charles Akonnor and his two assistants from their positions with immediate effect.

Following Ghana’s Group G World Cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia and South Africa, the Technical Report from the Senior National Team Head Coach and the report from the Black Stars Management Committee were received.

After examining the two reports, the Executive Council has decided to part ways with Head Coach C. K Akonnor and his two assistants.

The Executive Council has appointed a three-member committee, consisting of Vice President Mark Addo, Chairman of the Upper East Regional Football Association, Alhaji Salifu Zida, and Dr. Randy Abbey to choose a Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the Black Stars within the next 72 hours.

C.K Akonnor and his Assistants were wished the best of luck in their future endeavors by the Association.

After the two initial matches, Ghana has three (3) points.

In October 2021, the Black Stars will face Zimbabwe in the next round of games.
