Borno: Boko Haram insurgents attack soldiers

On Saturday, dozens of Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province members attacked a military convoy along the Gubio/Damasak highway in Borno State’s northern region.

After a gunfight, an undefined number of soldiers were reportedly injured in the raid, and utility vehicles belonging to the military were taken away by the nation wreckers.

The soldiers were on their way to Gubio in Borno State to pick up members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their ward congress in Damasak when they were ambushed at Kareto.

The lawmakers were scheduled to be escorted by the army from Abadam to Damasak, where their ward congress would be held.

Kareto is the hometown of Bukar Gana Kareto, representative of Kukawa/ Guzamala/Abadam/ Mobbar Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
