Earlier today, Ghanaians received news on Beyonce featuring Shatta Wale on her new album specifically on a song dubbed “Already“.
The R&B star announced the numerous African pop and rap stars on her album last Friday, as well as Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and daughter Blue Ivy.
Many Ghanaians have wondered why the female singer featured Shatta Wale on her album, and also why the dancehall artiste of all people – known to be a talkative – was silent all this while.
With respect to these reasons not known, Beyonce made a statement while announcing the artistes she worked with on the album.
When she first announced the project last week, Beyoncé said: “Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation.”
She further revealed that any single person featured on the album was featured because he/she is talented and not for any other reason.
She also stated why she chose to work with some African producer – remember, Guiltybeatz, a Ghanaian producer, produced three songs.
She said: “It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”
This answers only one side of the puzzle but as to why Shatta Wale was mute all this while, we are yet to uncover.
