Alban Bagbin wins Speaker of Parliament election – NDC declares

The experienced former member of parliament, Honourable Alban Bagbin has reportedly been elected as Speaker of Parliament for the 8th Parliament.

The 7th Parliament was dissolved on 7th January 2021 to make way for the constitution of the 8th Parliament under the fourth republic.

One the above note, MP’s elect, as constitution demands, were made to elect speaker of parliament between the NDC’s Alban Bagbin and the NPP’s Aaron Mike Quaye.

Well, the NDC after the election has declared Hon Alban Bagbin as winner of the speaker of parliament for the 8th Parliament.

The NDC claims Alban Bagbin won the elections by 138 votes out of 275 votes.

According to a declaration made by the NDC on social media, NPP’s Mike Quake pulled 136 votes. Meanwhile, there was one spoilt ballot.
