Akuapem chiefs defy public gathering rule to install new Okuapemhene (video)

Are we mad or we just don’t care about certain things? In this period where there is an outbreak of a deadly virus that the whole world is trying so hard to fight, others are not considering the risk they put others in as they put their own interests first.

Call it lack of common sense, but this is a clear case of ignorance on the side of these people of  Akuapem – not all – as they defied the president’s ban on public and social gathering just to install a new paramount chief.

This comes a day after the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs ordered against Odehyie Kwasi Akuffo from carrying himself as the Chief of Okuapeman thus nullifying his enstoolment.

The Akuapem traditional council, therefore, had the green-light to enstool a new paramount chief. After observing the due processes involved in doing so, the Sakyibea Royal family nominated Nana Kese as Paramount Chief.

His enstoolment, which could have been postponed until the president’s ban on social and public gathering is lifted, was rather held today in Akuapem.

In videos sighted by Gossips24.com, the people were seen gathered in their numbers to witness the installation of a new chief. As a matter of fact, there were heavily armed security personnel present to ensure peace prevailed throughout the ceremony.

However, there was a major concern as they went against the president’s restriction on social and public gatherings as well as defying the social distancing rule. Though they were all seen in masks, that alone was not enough as the cases of coronavirus keep on increasing.

Netizens, and most Ghanaians who have chanced on the video so far fear lives of all who attended the ceremony may be at risk. This event alone can spike the already increasing numbers of infected persons in Ghana.
