The honourable Minster-designate for Sanitation under Akufo Addo’s second tenure in the office of the presidency, Madam Cecilia Dappah has once again projceted the country’s capital-Accra will soon become the celanest city in Africa.
According to the Hon minster who woefully failed in her first term, she is very optimistic that she will be able to deliver her promise this time around.
Providing answers to the Parliament’s Appointment Committee on why Accra never realized this feat of becoming the cleanest city in Africa as she predicted 4 years ago, Madam Cecilia Dapaah said she remains poised to see it come through.
Accra is on course to become the cleanest city that the President said in absolute terms. I think we are on the course looking at what we started doing and what I continued from my colleague,
Most important of all we have also through the GAMA [Greater Accra Metropolitan Area] project provided 33,00 household toilets. That is also part of the cleanliness projects we have undertaken,” Mrs. Dapaah added.
We are proposing that there should be a Sanitation Fund, either supplied by the government of Ghana or through a Sanitation Levy so that we will be well-equipped financially to take care of the gap in the financing of sanitation in this country.
