The Government paid a courtesy call to the Environmental Protection Agency yesterday.

20 brand new vehicles has been handed over to the agency to foster their activities across all regions in Ghana.

The model of the vehicles is reported to be 10 Toyota pick-ups and 10 Toyota land cruisers.

Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng who is the current minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), did the honor of presenting the car keys to Executive Director of the EPA, Mr. Henry Kokofu, in Accra and was optimistic that the vehicles will be of a great benefit to foster the work of the EPA.

According to the minister, the EPA acts as the overall custodian of the land and therefore they play a significant role in preserving our environment.

He went further to say that easier mobility is needed for the EPA to be effective hence the provision of the 20 vehicles.

Mr. Kokofu expressed his gratitude to the government for coming to the aid of the agency.

Mr.Kokofu went further to lay some grievances of the EPA such as lack of offices to aid in their operations and insufficient number of staff.

He added that the agency is looking forward to get more people on board to assist in their day to day activities in the coming year.

Mr.Kokofu gave assurance to the minister and said the vehicles will be utilized to the maximum and used in the agencies line of duty.
