Former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey has been declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly assaulting a footballer in Bukom, Accra.
Gossips24.com has learnt on Tuesday, 4th June. 2019, around 5pm GMT, during a football match at the Bukom football park, 21-year-old Sylvester Ayitey-Adjin (the victim) was given a severe beating by Joshua Clottey, a professional boxer.
According to witnesses and others who were present when the incident occurred, there was a small misunderstanding between Joshua and Ayitey which led to the unwarranted bout.

Eye witnesses said, the former IBF Champion punched the footballer two times in the mouth and nose, leading to blood oozing out.
Interestingly, Joshua sighted the danger and has since gone into hiding after the incident. Police reveal they are trying their possible best to fish Joshua out and investigate him.
“He has a case of assault to answer. It will be in his own interest to turn himself. But we also have our own procedures to get him,” an investigator at the James Town Police said.
Checks at the police station reveal that statements and a medical report form have been received from Ayitey-Adjin.
The footballer was treated by doctors at the Korle Bu Accident and Emergency unit yesterday. The physician on duty confirmed that the patient was assaulted, stating
“Examination shows that patient …[had- mouth lacerations, bleeding from the mouth, severe pain at the jaw, neck and head.”
Sources closer to Gossips24.com reveal the victim has gotten free services from some lawyers to see to this assault case against Joshua Clottey taking a full haul.
Since the incident took place, Gossips24 has learnt 15 other residents of Bukom have also lined up at the James Town police station to complain that Joshua Clottey once assaulted them.
