General Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan, who has earned the alias, Baby Jet, due to his swift performance when given the striking role has revealed he has no intentions of retiring anytime soon.

The General Captain of the Black Stars was sidelined at the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt by Coach Akwasi Appiah after he had earlier announced his decision to resign from International football following a decision by the head coach to strip him off of his captaincy without any reasonable explanation.

But later had to rescind his decision in respect to President Akufo-Addo when he called on him to do so.

Kwasi Appiah refused to give him enough playing time during all the senior national soccer team’s games in the tournament.

At the club side, Kayserispor, the future does not look promising for the Ghanaian professional footballer.

Questions have been asked about where Baby Jet turns to next in his career, and the man himself disclosed in an interview that, at 33, he is not ready to walk away from football.

“I’m not retiring now because l am still very young, I’m still active up and running”. he said when asked about the prospect of retirement.

The former Sunderland skipper further disclosed that he is on talks with teams here in Ghana and overseas. However, he mentioned before he says good bye to football he would like to play for Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.

Asamoah Gyan after this year’s AFCON competition told the press, it’s likely he wouldn’t represent Ghana at any tournament again.

“It could be my last”, adding: “Many things happened but I have to go home and think about it well and then see what happens. This is my seventh Africa Cup of Nations, so, I’ll just have to go home and think about it well before I come out to say anything.”

Gyan has scored in six Afcon tournaments, a record currently held by him alongside Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto’o and Zambian Kalusha Bwalya.

Gyan is the all-time leading goal scorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals.
