The NPP’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, aka Abronye DC, said the 120,000ghc purportedly presented to MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, by the Chief of Staff was a birthday gift.
The money placed into the MP’s account, he claims, is personal money from the Chief of Staff.
To enable the government to approve the planned e-levy, Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, told Asaase Radio on Tuesday that he was handed the sum by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare. However, Abronye DC stated that the money was provided to Adwoa Safo as a “birthday gift” by the Chief of Staff, Abronye DC.
It was not planned for her to return to Ghana since she [Adwoa Safo] contacted the Chief of Staff to say she was celebrating her birthday without a present. So, it’s a personnel present from the Chief of Staff,” he informed Kofi Adoma Nwanwani in Twi.
He stated that the money provided was in cedis, therefore anybody claiming otherwise is lying. CACG has also requested a probe into the accusations made by the Assin Central MP.
