The minister of Finance Honourable ken Ofori Atta has during the graduation of students of the University of Professional Studies-Accra (UPSA) 2021 revealed that the government’s payroll is full and would not be employing more people.

According to the minister who was invited as a special guest of honor speaking at the ceremony revealed that the graduates must venture into entrepreneurship since the government is currently stuck and won’t be able to add more people to its payroll.

Honourable Ken Ofori Atta further added that the duty of government is to build the necessary enabling environment, promote micro-stability, and guarantee that Ghanaians get the necessary push to better improve their lives and that is exactly what the government has been doing.

he further added that students who have graduated should make it a point to use their skills attained during their 4 years in school as a standpoint to transform society through the renewal of their minds.

“At this point, the most important issue for you in terms of jobs is the future, and we’ve gone through a period where most people hunt for work in government or state institutions; nevertheless, those payrolls are full.” I can tell you that because we spend around 60% of our revenue on remunerating 650,000 employees, which is unsustainable,”

Honourable ken Ofori Atta
