A man, Pathompong Sukane, who stole two gold necklaces weighing 2 baht from a gold shop in Thailand has been arrested at his residence.
The 34 year old thief in his rush to escape with the necklaces dropped his ID card without knowing.
He had walked into the gold shop asking to be shown a few. After showing interest in the two as though he was going to buy them, the shop attendant decided to check his bill for him. Unfortunately, he did not wait for the bill but rather ran away with the necklaces.
According to eyewitnesses, he ran and sat on a motorbike and fled and all attempts by security to stop him proved futile.
After he left, an ID card was found belonging to him and this guided the police to his house to arrest him.
In his defense, he said that he was only a food delivery person and needed extra money to survive hence stealing the gold necklaces.
