Leslie Afotey, a bank teller with the Spintex branch of the CAL Bank has been sent prison for two years with hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court for stealing an amount of GH¢499,022.10 of the bank.
According to the case presided over by Mrs Evelyn Asamoah, an audit done by the bank revealed that the amount was unaccounted for by Leslie who used to be responsible for the collection of cash from the clients of the bank at various locations.
When Leslie found out about the audit and the missing money, he ran away after being questioned about it.
He was later arrested after a report was made on December 28, 2018, but pleaded not guilty.
He later won a bet of GH¢160,000 and refunded GH¢128,022.10.
He has now pleaded guilty and asked to be given a month to refund the money.
