Who is Eno Barony?

Born Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwaah but professionally known as Eno Barony is a Ghanaian full-time female rapper known for her unmatched lyrical flow. Regarded by many rap lovers to be on the same talent scale as African rap king Sarkodie, Eno Barony is often cited as one of Ghana’s best female rappers of all time.

Early Life of Eno Barony

Eno Barony was born on October 30, 1991, in Tema, a business city in the Accra metropolis of Ghana. She was raised by both parents – Reverend Abraham Nyame Adom and Mrs. Rebecca Nyame Adom. The self-impulsed rap goddess began her lower primary education at Shallom Preparatory, continued to Cambridge Academy, and finally completed her Junior high school education at Methodist J.H.S in Tema.

Eno was admitted into Methodist Day Secondary School for her secondary education. In 2015, she completed her tertiary education at Kumasi Technical University formerly known as Kumasi Polytechnic.

Rapper Career

Throughout her secondary education used to record freestyle raps before her professional music career began. In 2014, Eno Barony penetrated into the mainstream media with her re-make of Joey B’s popular hit single “Tonga”. This piece garnered her commercial support due to her astute delivery on the beat. In 2015, the female rapper made the headlines with her hit single “Megye Wo boy” which featured veteran female musician Aberewa Nana.

In 2016, she released another hot banger dubbed “Daawa” which featured Shatta Wale, as if this collaboration wasn’t enough, she also featured the man insane (Kwaw Kesse) on her “Gari” tune and lastly ended the year with “King of Queens” which featured Medikal.

In 2017, Eno was made the music commissioner for Ghana meets Naija which earned her – her biggest recognition in the media space. She also performed at the Ghana music festival for the third time in a row in late 2015. The female rapper also headlined Joy Fm’s old school reunion alongside Stonebwoy.

In the year 2020 she won the  African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) award for Best Best Female Rap Act in Africa and was adjorned one of the top 30 female musicains in Ghana by the 3music awards.

Eno Barony’s Nominations and Awards

Eno was nominated for the best rapper category at Ghana music Awards 2018, she also earned a nomination for Best Hip-Hop video at 4syte music video awards. The female rapper also earned a nomination in 2017 at the Jigwe awards.

She is currently the Best Rap Performer of the Year winner at the 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) which took place on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
