The President of Uganda and his party officials have inaugurated an official karate team to secure votes in the country’s upcoming 2021 elections.
President Yoweri Museveni, 76, and his party National Resistance Movement (NRM), through this karate team made up of over 200 people are seeking to secure a sixth term in office.
The inauguration which took place yesterday at the Nakivubo primary school showcased the skills of the Karate men as they were seen using their fists to break bricks and wood.
According to the Party Chairman, Norah Namutamba, some areas are violence prone areas like Kampala that will require this Karates to avert them. “The group will be able to supervise at polling stations to see that there is no rigging and also protect declaration forms to ensure right results are tallied,” he said.
“The team is not here to torture or cause violence to Ugandans, its task is to protect the votes by stopping those planning to disrupt elections,” Hatibu Ramadan, the field commander of the team said assuringly.
The Karates have been tasked to train others in their communities.
