It can be recalled that after world media giants including CNN, Aljazeera, CNN etc reported on the ongoing mayhem in Nigeria.
The Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Department released a press statement which clearly stated that the infamous police unit [SARS] has been scrapped just yesterday.
Nevertheless, Nigerian youths who strongly believe that this message was put across to ease the growing tension in the country have counter-attacked the IGP’s press statement with their own demands from the authorities on how to deal with the SARS cancer.
Below are the demands the angry yet peaceful Nigerian #ENDSARS protestors are requesting from their government.
1) Immediate release of all arrested protesters
2) Justice for all deceased victims of police brutality and appropriate compensation for their families
3) Setting up and independent body to oversee the investigation and prosecution of all reports of police misconduct (within 10 days)
4) In line with the new police act, psychological evaluation and retraining (to be confirmed by an independent body) of all disbanded SARS before they can be redeployed
5) Increase police salary so that they are adequately compensated for protecting the lives and property of citizens.
