Some notable Nigerian politicians are currently serving jail terms for either squandering National funds or involving themselves in other corruption related scandals.
Let’s take a look at all these once-upon a time powerful men who have been thrown into jails under the Buhari Regime on the note of corruptions sagas.
Babangida Aliyu
The former governor of Niger State is presently in jail after he was nabbed by the EFCC over allegations of abuse of office and money laundering. According to reports, he transferred N2 billion into his own account for his political ambitions.
Mukhtar Ramalan Yero
Arrested on May 31 to June 6, 2018, the former governor of Kaduna State is NO.2 on our list. He was thrown into jail with his accomplices, the former chairman of the PDP in the state, Abubakar Gaya-Haruna; former secretary to the state government, Hamza Ishaq and a former minister of power, Nuhu Somo Wya. They were all appregened on farud related issues
Retired Air Commodore Jonah David Jang
He was also arrested after he diverted N6.3 billion into his peronal bank account. The former governor of Plateau state also spent about 8 days at the Jos prison before been trasnfered. He was slapped with 12-count charges at the law court
Bala Ngilari
Unluckily for him, he is the first ploitican to be arrested by Buhrai after he assumed power. Bala Ngilari is a former Adamawa State governor who was jailed in March 2017 for failing to adhere to the procurement laws of the state. He was sentenced to five years in imprisonment.
Reverend Jolly Nyame
He is the former governor of Taraba State and he was prosecuted and sentenced to 14 years in imprisonment for misappropriating funds and other mega-corruption scandals
Peter Nwaoboshi
He is a staunch member of the PDP-Delta North chapter. He spent some days at the Kirikiri maximum security prison over an alleged N805m fraud charge whcih was brought against him by the EFCC.
Oliseh Metuh
He is the former spokesperson of the PDP who spent some time at the Kuje prison in Abuja for an alleged money laundering scandal. He was accused of receiving N400 million from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Colonel Sambo Dasuki
The former security adviser spent 31 months in detention over an allegation of mismanagement of $2.1bn meant for the purchase of firearms.
