Stonebwoy Real Name

Dancehall musician, Stonebwoy Burniton, was originally born Livingstone Etse Satekla. He is a Ghanaian who hails from Alakple-Anloga in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Stonebwoy Age

Born on March 5, 1988, in Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra region of Ghana.

The renowned dancehall artiste cum Grammy nominee is 32 years old. He celebrated his most recent birthday in a grand style despite the outbreak of coronavirus in Ghana at the time.

Stonebwoy Parents

Livingstone Etse Satekla was born to Mr. and Mrs. Satekla and places fourth in a family of seven siblings. The musician has mad love for both his father and mother and has flaunted that on countless occasions.

Stonebwoy’s father turned 74 years old on May 6, 2020. However, he lost his mother, Catherine Satekla on July 29, 2015, at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after the mother had been admitted to the hospital for a short period.

Stonebwoy Educational Background

Stonebwoy commenced his basic and junior high school education at the Agyiri Nyarko School Complex in Ashaiman Jericho where he grew up.

He then moved on to study at Methodist Day Secondary School the same year with rapper Sarkodie where he gained his High School Leaving Certificate in 2007.

He continued his tertiary education at the University of Professional Studies to earn a degree in Marketing in 2013.

Stonebwoy Wife

Stonebwoy married his longtime girlfriend Dr. Louisa Kwakye Ansong on Friday, June 16, 2017.

The traditional marriage rites for the couple was held at the bride’s family home at Tema, followed by the White Wedding at Trade Fair, Accra.

Ansong, known widely as Dr. Louisa, gained nationwide acclaim when she emerged as the Overall Best Student (Dental Surgery) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

She won 6 out of 9 awards during the school’s graduation ceremony in 2016. Ansong currently works as a dentist at the 37 Military Hospital.

They started dating as far back as 2014, and their bond becomes stronger and stronger as the clock ticks.

Stonebwoy Kids

Stonebwoy and his wife, after three years of marriage have been blessed with two kids – a boy and a girl. Their first born who is a girl, is known as Catherine-Jidula Satekla. Jidula was born on March 17, 2018.

Stonebwoy Career

Time machine – while in class four, young Livingstone realized his love and passion for creative arts, having successfully scripted and acted for the drama club of his school and also put words together in a rhythmic manner.

Since then, the young chap has never stopped singing both songs that he has written and composed and those by artists he is influenced by In an industry flooded with people trying out a number of things in a bid to establishing their identity, Stonebwoy stands as one unique artiste with a sense of direction and purpose. 

During his first year in Senior High School, Livingstone met up with a radio DJ/Presenter, Doctor Duncan who at the time was the host of KASAHARI, a real-time rap battle programme.

His first radio hit, Makuma (My Heart) was released in second year at Senior High School plus several others that followed up later. By third year, he had amassed for himself a flaming underground popularity and went on to release another hit titled Empress which held him up years after leaving High School in 2007.

Thereafter, things happened in quick succession and Stonebwoy soon started work with S24 studios in 2008. He later joined Samini ‘s HighGrade family and remained there until 2012, when he decided to put into practice all he had seen and learnt when he formed his own record label called Burniton Music Group (BMG). Knowing the direction he was heading with his career, Stonebwoy worked day and night with his team to ensure that they achieved the best.

Today, the result of hard work is certainly paying off for the young chap with collaborations with international acts from Africa, UK, Jamaica such as Jah Vinci, Trey Songz, Gappy Ranks, Randy Valentine, Sakordie, Wayne Wonder, Laza Morgan, Samini, Obrafour, Black Prophet, R2Bees, Patoranking, General Pype Stylogee, Burna Boy, Morgan Heritage, Chris Martin, I Octane, Kranium, Keri Hilson, Diamond Platinumz, and many others.

Stonebwoy Albums

Stonebwoy has so far recorded four studio albums, namely; Grade 1 Album, Necessary Evil, EOM, and Anloga Junction.

Under “Samini Music”, Stonebwoy recorded his first hit single “Climax” featuring Samini and subsequently “Ghetto Love” featuring Irene Logan. Both songs earned him nominations at the Ghana Music Awards. After this exposure, he released his debut album “Grade 1 Album”. The album contains seventeen tracks which featured prominent Ghanaian artists including Tinny and Edem aside from those mentioned above. The release of the debut album made the Stonebwoy brand a household name in the music industry.

In 2014, Satekla released his second album, called the Necessary Evil. It consists of twenty-nine tracks, including the famous Baafira track that featured Sarkodie.

Released on December 12, 2017; the Epistles of Mama was dedicated to Satekla’s late mother by name Mrs Catherine Lucy Aku Ametepe Satekla. The 24 track album features Sean Paul, King Promise, Burna Boy. The album peaked at Number thirteen on Billboard chart top 200 albums worldwide.

On 24th April 2020, Stonebwoy released his fourth studio album which featured the likes of Keri Hilson (US), Nasty C (SA), Diamond Platinumz, Alicai Harley (Jamaica), Jahmiel (Jamaica), Zlatan (Nigeria), Kojo Antwi (Ghana), Chivv (Netherlands) and Spanker (Netherlands). He also worked with producers like Mix Master Garzy, Streetbeatz, M.O.G. Beatz, Spanker, Riga, Phantom, Ipaapi, and others.

Livingstone Etse Satekla has won 22 awards out of 25 nominations. He has 7 VGMAs to his credit, one BET award, after missing the opportunity to make it two in 2017, and a Grammy nomination also to his credit.
