With coronavirus in town, many have wondered whether the much-anticipated and prestigious music award scheme, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA 2020) will come off this year. Well, that will be determined by Charterhouse, organisers of the awards in the coming weeks.
Many, especially music lovers and fans of nominated artists are looking forward to the event, and popular suggestions point to one – an online award. Ghanaians are calling for the event to be hosted online for the first time in 21 years.
With this on the table, one would ask whether Charterhouse also has this in mind? It has been answered by the Head of Communications at Charterhouse, as he reveals a plan B and C are in place to make sure the event comes off.
According to the Head of Communications, Robert Klah, Charterhouse has considered holding the event on a virtual space as one of the alternatives to pull the awards off.
Mr. Klah added in his interview with Kwame Dadzie of Ghanaweekend and Citi Fm that the organisers have not settled on that as a firm option because a lot of factors would have to be considered.
He added that if by September things have returned to normal, the awards will be held.
Robert was also quick to add that holding VGMA this year in whichever way would depend largely on government’s regulations and how consequent issues on coronavirus pandemic pan out.
