Gossips24.com has sighted numerous reports making rounds on social media suggesting a soldier has shot a policewoman twice whiles on duty.
Apparently, the two were part of ‘Operation COVID-Safety’, a joint police and military force deployed to regulate activities and enforce the lockdown directives by the president.
Mrs. Francisca was shot in the leg and knee by the officer whose identity was not disclosed. She is currently receiving treatment at the Tema General Hospital where she was rushed after the incident.
The Tema Regional Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying in a statement that “What we don’t know is why the military man did that. We are yet to get information on that because word has it that there was no confrontation.”
Meanwhile, the policewoman is quoted to have said the soldier was standing behind her at the checkpoint and suddenly, she heard gunshot and the bullet hit her leg and the knee.
We are told the military officer has been withdrawn from the operation and placed under military detention.
