Gradually, the coronavirus is fast spreading in Africa as Cameroon has recorded and confirmed its first case after a 58-year-old French citizen tested positive.
A statement signed by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Malachie Manaouda, said the man had been quarantined in the city’s Central Hospital.
“All measures have been taken by the government to contain potential risks of the coronavirus spreading,” it said in a statement.
Cameroon is the fourth Sub-Saharan African country confirming a coronavirus case after Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa.
COVID-19 emerged in China’s central Wuhan city last December and has now spread to over 80 countries.
