Following the release of his latest track, “Kwaku the Traveler,” Black Sherif has become the talk of the town.
Few days after the release of the song, he became the first Ghanaian to top Nigeria’s Apple Music Top 100 Songs.
He also became the only Ghanaian in Audiomack’s top 5 most-streamed hip-hop artists of the week.
However, there was some controversy around the good news, since Audiomack incorrectly identified the young man as a Nigerian rather than a Ghanaian while sharing the numbers on its official social media website.
The matter sparked a lively debate on social media, with Ghanaians upset that the music platform labeled Ghana’s very own Black Sherif as Nigerian after his song “Kweku the Traveller” became the most streamed on audiomack.
Nigerians on the other hands were claiming the young champ for themselves the streaming platform tagged Blacko as a Nigerian on their platform after his new track “Kweku The Traveler” peeked the music charts a few days after it was released
Well, Black Sherif, born Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kweku Frimpong, in a recent interview, has disclosed his real nationality.
“I no Nigerian, I’m a Ghanaian. I was born and raised in Konongo Zongo in the Asante Region so I’m a Ghanaian”, He said during an exclusive interview with pulse.com.gh.
