The Artiste of the Decade award was created by Charter House, the organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to reward hard working artists who have sustained their relevancy within a period of ten years.
The first of its kind was won by Highlife legend Kojo Antwi and the second was won by Sarkodie at the recently held VGMAs here in Accra.
Sarkodie beat stiff competition from Samini, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Nacee, Efya, Becca, and Okyeame Kwame to grab the award although majority of people tipped Samini to walk home with the prize.
Speaking on the issue on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty, Samini said he was hugely disappointed he did not win it but it’s all COOL, adding he has nothing against Sarkodie since he also deserved it.
It’s believed Samini angrily left the auditorium soon after the winner of the Artiste of the Decade was declared but Samini told Andy Dosty that wasn’t the case
