Supreme court threatens to dismiss NDC’s petition if John Mahama’s lawyers continue to be disobedient

The Supreme Court has threatened to dismiss the NDC’s petition if John Mahama and his legal team continue to disregard its orders.

This comes on the back of the refusal of Mahama’s lawyers to file witness statements and other relevant materials at the Court’s registry on Thursday, January 21, 2021, as ordered.

On the day the former president was required to file the witness statements, he instead filed an application asking the Court to review its ruling after it dismissed his motion for interrogatories.

He also filed a stay of proceedings until his request for review was determined. Mahama on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, filed a petition before the apex court to challenge the outcome of the presidential race.

Akufo-Addo defeated Mahama in the election to secure another four-year term; collecting 51.302% of the votes cast against the latter’s 47.359%.
