While countries around the world are still making frantic efforts to beat COVID-19 that has overwhelmed everybody, the state of Oyo has been hit by a ”strange” disease already killing people.
According to reports, the symptoms of the sickness could be likened to those of cholera but the government of the state says it cannot confirm that because they are still waiting for results.
“The tests carried out on the affected persons are still premature and the samples collected have not confirmed the sickness to be cholera.”The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashiru Bello said.
He also mentioned that a look at the surroundings of the affected persons’ residences showed very poor sanitary conditions.
Mr. Kelani Abdullahi is the Caretaker Chairman of the Lagelu Local Government Area where the sickness has broken out. He confirmed the deaths and said that they are still trying to figure out what the sickness could be.
